BENTON, Mo. -- An Oran man faces domestic abuse and drug charges in Scott County after allegedly hitting and attempting to pull a woman through a broken car window.

Mark Gordon, 42, is charged with felony second degree domestic assault and the misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

On Saturday deputies with the Scott County Sheriff's Department responded to an address outside of Oran for a domestic disturbance in progress, according to Sheriff Rick Walter. Deputies arrived and located the victim outside, crying. They noted she had blood and red marks on her chest, a laceration to her leg and red marks on her arms.

The victim told deputies she and Gordon were driving in a vehicle and arguing when Gordon began striking her in the head and face while she was driving. Two juveniles were also present in the vehicle. When they arrived at the residence, Gordon broke out the driver's side window and attempted to pull the victim through the window. Gordon allegedly began striking the victim in the head, face, and body. The children reportedly got out of the vehicle and ran to a field. Gordon could not get the victim through the window, so he stopped and went inside, Walter said.

Deputies located Gordon inside the residence and placed him under arrest. While searching Gordon for weapons, deputies located a brass air hose fitting with burnt residue. Next to Gordon was located a hollow metal tube containing burnt residue. It was determined the burnt residue was marijuana, according to the sheriff. .

Gordon was transported to the Scott County Jail. Gordon remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $2,500 cash only, and Gordon cannot possess alcohol or have contact with the victim.
