SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man faces felony burglary and gun charges following a foot pursuit Tuesday.

Anthony Jamell Martin Price, 23, is charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm, felony stealing a firearm and felony resisting/interfering with the arrest for a felony, according to online court records.

About 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Benjamin Quick with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call advising him that Price was in Sikeston and reportedly in possession of stolen firearms in the 200 block of Fuchs Street, according to Quick's probable cause statement which was provided by the Scott County prosecuting attorney's office. Quick said he and other DPS officers responded to the residence where Price fled from them on foot after being told to stop by officers multiple times. Quick made contact with the complainant who said Price was in possession of a rifle case but that person was unsure what was in the case.

The owner of the residence granted permission to search the residence. Quick said he located a rifle case behind a wooden privacy fence, and it contained a semi-automatic rifle with a scope and ammunition.

Sgt. Jon Broom, public information officer with Sikeston DPS, said the guns were from a burglary in the 100 block of Summer street earlier this week.

"Officers received a tip he was in possession of those stolen guns, and when they confronted him in the 200 block of Fuchs Street, he fled on foot. He was later captured and the stolen guns were recovered after a search of a home he was staying," Broom said.

Further investigation led officers to Price's residence where permission was granted to search. Located was a holster containing one magazine and a box of 9-mm ammunition that was also reported stolen from the same residence.

At about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Price turned himself into officers at Sikeston DPS headquarters.

Bond was set at $15,000 cash and he remained in jail as of Wednesday.
