Sikeston's Thatch, many others make MBCA all state team

For the second-straight year, Sikeston junior Fred Thatch was named an all-state player following Thursday's announcement of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association all-state boys and girls teams.

Thatch nearly averaged a triple-double with 25.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, five assists and three steals per game for the Bulldogs, who finished the season with a 24-5 record and a second-straight quarterfinal appearance.

The Oran boys swept the Class 2 honors after winning its first state championship in school history.

Senior Max Priggel was named the Player of the Year, while Joe Shoemaker took home honors as Coach of the Year. Sophomore Jacob Shoemaker also earned all-state honors.

In Class 3, Charleston junior Mardareyon Clark was chosen after leading the Bluejays with averages of 19.9 points, nine rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.4 assists a game.

Scott County Central senior Deantrell Beard was chosen in Class 1.

On the girls side, Dexter's Chaylea Mosby was chosen in Class 4. The sophomore led the Bearcats to a third place finish at state averaging 22 points per game. She also averaged 2.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds and shot 54.3 percent from the floor with 117 threes on the year.

Oran sophomore Leah Cauble was chosen in Class 2. Cauble shot 55 percent from the field and averaged 33 points and five rebounds for the Eagles, who finished fourth in the first-ever tip to the state final four.
