Sikeston girls soccer team breaks record in regular season finale

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Sikeston's 14th win of the season was a record-breaking one.

The girls soccer team defeated Fredericktown 3-0 Thursday on the road during their regular season finale and broke one school record while tying another in the process.

The Bulldogs broke the season goals record with their 68th goal of the season surpassing the previous record of 66. They also tied the shutout record with their 10th of the year.

Goals by Kylie Lossing, Mackenzie Yant and Larysa McClellon led to Sikeston's sixth shutout in a row. Kayla Curry and McClellon each had assists.

Sikeston finishes the regular season with a 14-5 record.

The Bulldogs are the top seed in next week's Class 3, District 1 tournament in Farmington, Mo., and will take on No. 4 North County during a May 16 semifinal at 5 p.m. No. 2 Farmington and No. 3 Cape Central will play the other semifinal the same night at 6:30 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for May 18 at 6 p.m.
