Several accidents over holiday in area
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated numerous accidents over the Fourth of July holiday.
At 7:11 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 80 at the intersection with Pecan Street in East Prairie, a southbound vehicle driven by Sara E. Conklin, 32, of East Prairie pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by Jamie L. Bailey, 31, of East Prairie resulting in an accident.
Conklin had minor injuries. She was taken by emergency medical services to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment.
On Highway 105 at the intersection of Highway 102, one mile north of East Prairie, a vehicle struck a house in a crash reported at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the Patrol's report, Charles T. Brown, 48, of East Prairie was driving northbound when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a cable box, telephone box, utility pole and a house.
Brown, who was moderately injured, was taken by ambulance to the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
A motorcyclist was injured in an accident at 5:25 p.m. Monday on Interstate 55, just south of the 86 mile marker.
Cordaroe A. Haley, 30, of Ripley, Tenn., was slowing to turn when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a northbound motorcycle driven by David U. Hendry, 74, of Hallsville. Hendry was ejected from his vehicle.
Moderately injured in the accident, Hendry was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.
A two-car crash resulted in minor injuries to a woman.
At 2:05 p.m. Monday on Highway 61 at the intersection of County Road 431, a southbound vehicle driven by Melanie M. Ramey, 51, of Benton struck a southbound vehicle driven by Jamie M. Plaskie, 38, of Oran in the rear as Plaskie's vehicle was slowing for a left hand turn, the Patrol reported.
Plaskie was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment.
A head-on collision was reported at 1:40 p.m. Monday on Highway 60, four miles east of Wyatt.
The Patrol reported an eastbound vehicle driven by Deon K. Jones, 22, of Riverdale, Ga., crossed the centerline and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Nicholas R. Zerpa, 38, of Charlotte, N.C., head-on.
Zerpa was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center.
