149TH ST. Rep. Rone announces Vital Funding for Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Don Rone announced on Tuesday good news for the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation. "DAEOC will receive $500,000 for wastewater improvements through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)," said Rone.
"I was proud to support the City of Portageville in their request for funding. These improvements are vital to the health and wellbeing of the people that live here,” said Rone, R-Portageville, who was born and raised in Portageville and has made the wellbeing of the people and the city his driving motivation as a public servant.
"A huge thank you should go to the city's officials, engineers and grant administrators. Without their hard work and communication, the Department would not have been aware of the situation our wastewater treatment was in," he added.
The CDBG program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides grants and loan funds to cities with a population under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 to assist in a variety of public works and economic development projects.
DAEOC is a private not-for-profit Community Action Agency serving Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Scott and Stoddard Counties in Southeast Missouri. DAEOC administers programs designed to combat poverty and provide economic opportunities in the Bootheel.
