You don’t have to travel far to find yourself at one of the hottest fishing lakes in the crappie, Horseshoe Lake in Northeast Arkansas. Just 30 minutes south of West Memphis, Horseshoe Lake is an oxbow cut off from the Mississippi River when the levy was built. Its name comes from the shape of the lake resembling a horseshoe, with the inside full of ancient cypress trees and the outside laced with homes and elaborate boat docks and piers that stand 3 – 6 feet above the water.
