SIKESTON -- Bruce Wayne McKinney, 67, of Sikeston, died Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 19, 1951, at Charleston, the second son of Emory and Neoma Beth Gay McKinney, he grew up in Charleston with his three brothers and one sister. He was a member of the Lulu Baptist Church at Senath.
Bruce worked his young life as a mechanic and as service manager for Montgomery Ward, J.C. Penney Auto Center and Clinton Firestone and then became a part of the Raben Tire Company in Sikeston where he devoted his life to be store manager for over 31 years. The store employees were his family, too. They would always say "yes, boss" or "whatever you say, boss." He was the greatest, loving and caring person toward everyone.
Bruce loved to go to Nascar races with his sons, Kenneth, Keith and Eric, and his grandsons, Emory and Aidan. If not at the races, he was watching them on T.V.
His dream was building his new home at Wappapello for his wife, Linda Jean, and him to enjoy in their retirement years ahead. Linda will see that dream is complete and fulfilled with her memories of what would have been.
On June 26, 1970, he married Linda Jean Brooks, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are his three sons, Chief Petty Officer USN (Ret) Eric (Amber) McKinney of Chesapeake, Va.; Keith (Kim) McKinney of Charleston; and Kenneth (Melinda) McKinney of Kennett; his grandchildren, Hannah McKinney, Aidan McKinney, Emory McKinney, Roger McElhaney, Mindy and Justin Redden, Ashley and Daniel Swims, Kristy Brozak, Olivia McKinney and fiancé Tim Lester, and Courtney and Will Davis Jr., as well as his nine grand dogs; His great-grandchildren, Dakota, Justin, Kerrigan, Jaxsten, Melanie, Kylie, Alaina, Calvin and Elliott. Also, a number of nieces and nephews survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Joe McKinney, Robert Allen "Bobby" McKinney, Dennis McKinney and Laura Katherine "Kathy" Heil.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Dean Wallace and John Givens, will officiate.
Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Little Brushy Cemetery near Wappapello under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
