ROGERS, Ark. - Catherine Taylor Fitzgerald passed away Feb. 9, 2017.
Born Sept. 15, 1924, in Sikeston, Mo., she was the daughter of Casper and Maggie Mertz Taylor.
She was united in marriage to Woodrow W. Fitzgerald on June 22, 1960. He preceded her in death May 12, 1987.
Accomplished with needlepoint, she made beautiful pieces of art for all her family that will be treasured. Cat was well known for her love of the St. Louis Cardinals, playing bridge and all things fashion, particularly her beloved Ferragamo shoes.
She attended Sikeston Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1942. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was active in the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Sodality. While living in Rogers, Ark., she became a beloved member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tontitown, Ark.
Cat is survived by her children Terry (Sherry) Fitzgerald, Pat (Gary) Fakes, Judy (Mont) Mitchell; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her daughter Mary Fitzgerald; her grandson Matthew Fitzgerald; her sister, Lynn Taylor Fitzgerald; and her three brothers, Robert Jackson, Philip Taylor and Charles M. Taylor.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Parrish Center with a funeral Mass following at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Alexander Nwagwu officiating.
