BERTRAND, Mo. -- Charles B. Samons, 70, died April 26, 2017, at his home in Bertrand.

Born July 21, 1946, at Charleston, son of the late Bural and Ann Marie Helms Samons, he had lived in Charleston most of his life. For 29 years he was employed with Gates Rubber Company at Charleston until his retirement. After retirement, he was employed at Scheffer Printing until ill health forced his retirement.

On Sept. 3, 1988, he married Carletta Welch, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle Palmerton of Gilbert, Ariz.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Chapman II of Charleston and Christopher and Sara Chapman of Sikeston; four sisters, Maxine Bozeman of East Prairie, Donna Carter of Charleston, Doris Davis of Kennett and Bessie Smith of Benton; and three grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston. The Rev. Robb Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, and the Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
