EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Mark Steven Brown, 67, died May 20, 2017, at the SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
Born July 12, 1949, in Wyatt, to the late Wallace Franklin and Vera Jeff Houston Brown, he was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was employed for 24 years at Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, until the closing in 1996. He later was employed for the Missouri Department of Conservation, until his retirement in 2009, due to illness. He was of Baptist belief.
On Sept. 3, 1982, he married Martha Ann Hedges, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: four children, Rebecca Marie Watts of Jasper, Ala., Jennifer Jeff Burroughs of Belmont, Miss., Brantley Jason Brown of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Sydney Diane Nunez of East Prairie; three brothers, Harold Brown of Wappapello, Larry Brown of Charleston and Justin Brown of East Prairie; one sister, Wanda Cogdill of East Prairie; and eight grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Brown; and three sisters, June Lefler, Betty Carrington and Connie Riley.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Mike Johnson officiating.
Burial followed at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Sipp, Jeremy Brown, Frankie Nunez, A.J. Allen, Tony Cogdill and Jeff Cogdill.
