ESSEX, Mo. -- James Dale Jennings, 84, died Oct. 10, 2017, at Cypress Point Skilled Care in Dexter, Mo.

Born July 14, 1933, son of the late Edgar Jennings and Mildred Talley Jennings, he was a carpenter and member of the Bernie General Baptist Church.

On Sept. 30, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., he married Mary Ellen Wilmath, who preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2008.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Dale Jennings and Dee Zikis of St. Charles, Ill.; by two daughters, Patricia Marchbanks and husband Don of Bartlett, Tenn., and Betty Jo Jenkins and husband David of Sikeston, Mo.; by two sisters, Vida Noella Davis of Texas and Reva Pitts of Kentucky; by five grandchildren, Gwendolyn Jennings, Christopher Milligan, Angela Walker, Barbara Shepard and Alexis Acord; by four great-grandchildren, Alec McDonald, Noah Milligan, Austin Shepard and Taylor Williams; by one great-great-granddaughter, Isabella McDonald; also by other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death, by one sister, Eugana Davis and one grandson, Matthew Jennings.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Mo., on Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. until service time at noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Steve Fitzpatrick, pastor at Bernie General Baptist will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter, Mo. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
