Gloria Houston, health occupation instructor, said her class is super excited to kick off their Operation Hope Mentor Program. The high school students enrolled in the health occupations class at Sikeston High School partner up with a kid recommended for the program at the Sikeston Fifth and Sixth Grade Center. During this visit the students were taught how to collect their own DNA, Houston said. "The students made a necklace that held a sample of their DNA and enjoyed that as a cool Halloween activity," she said. The students will do activities like this each month. Next month students will learn the importance of oral health care, she said.
