Sikeston seniors honored for leadership, academics

SIKESTON -- Emily Grace Braden and Ann Marie "Annie" Lancaster were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for November.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names two seniors each month. Character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability are criteria used to select students each month.

Braden is the daughter of David and Teresa Braden. She is a Red Pepper Vice Cayenne, Student Council secretary, DECA chapter president, FBLA secretary and member of FCA; the top 10 percent; and the 21 and Up Club. She said she is also honored to work with the American Legion Auxiliary as the 2016 Miss Sikeston. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, singing, performing at the Sikeston Little Theatre and spending time with her friends and family.

Lancaster, who is the daughter of Jay and Camille Lancaster, is a Red Pepper Cayenne, Student Council senior class vice president, NHS service projects coordinator, Junior Optimist Club member, FCA student leader, FBLA member and co-editor of the Barker. Her hobbies include singing, playing the piano, crafting and theater.
