SHS seniors honored

SIKESTON -- Morgan Poindexter and Samuel Thomas "Sam" Cox were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for January.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names two seniors each month who meet certain criteria related to character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability.

Poindexter is the daughter of Heath and Stephanie Poindexter. She plays Sikeston girls volleyball and is a member of Red Peppers, National Honor Society, DECA, FTA, cadet teaching, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 21 Club, Student Council and yearbook staff. Her hobbies include painting, reading, writing, running, doing hair and makeup and playing volleyball.

Cox, who is the son of Leven and Shelley Cox, plays soccer and baseball and is a member of the NHS, FTA, DECA, FCA, Sikeston Bums and the A+ Program. His hobbies include hunting, weight lifting and watching the Memphis Grizzlies.
