MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Shirley Irene Haynie Kersey, 71, died Sept. 23, 2016 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born November 24, 1944 in Lilbourn to the late Lucian Larry and Mary (Tarrants) Appleton, she was of the Pentecostal belief and had lived previously at High Point, N.C., and Olive Branch, Miss. She had been a pharmacy tech at Missouri Delta Medical Center and later at Medicap in Sikeston.

On May 14, 2001, In Wickliffe, Ky., she married Richard Kersey and he survives of the home.

Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law Rebecca Lynn and Robert Wright of Barnhart; one stepson, Jeremy Kersey of Sikeston; four brothers, Roland Appleton, Larry Appleton and Ronnie Appleton of Sikeston and Bruce Appleton of Bernie; two sisters, Sandra Odle of Bonne Terre and Margaret Moffitt of High Point, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Appleton; and one sister, Joan Lewis. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 11:30 am until time of services at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jeff Wells, pastor of First Pentecostal Church of Dexter, will officiate.

Burial will follow at Essex Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Brady Wright, Trey Appleton, Austin Theissen, Nolan Theissen, Austin Turner and Riley Wells.
