BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - Nadine Grooms, 94, of Blue Springs, Mo., formerly of Festus, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at The Parkway Senior Living community in Blue Springs.
She was born May 3, 1923, in Hardin, Ky., the daughter of the late Ginny Jewel (nee Wells) and Hannibal Drew Sweet.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Phil) Dunham of Independence, Mo.; her son, Garland "Wayne" (Kimberly) Grooms of Tega Cay, S.C.; grandchildren, Sarah Beth (nee Cooper, husband Ray) Gonzalez, Rebecca Lynn (nee Cooper, husband Alan) Zentz, Megan (nee Grooms, husband Jeremy) Mooney, Daniel Grooms, Morgan Grooms and Melissa Grooms; great-grandchildren, Alejandro, Mateo and Gabriella Castillo, Annabelle and Amelia Zentz, and Nora and Charlotte Grace Mooney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Garland Grooms; sisters, Lois Heckert, Wylmoth Lynn and Virginia Pulliam; and brothers, Hardy, Roy, Tom and Ed Sweet.
She was a wife, mother, homemaker and employee of Gift Chest Jewelers in Festus, and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City.
Visitation 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City officiated by Dr. Charles McLain, pastor.
Interment in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City.
