BENTON, Mo. -- Michael Ray Weems, 62, died Sept. 12, 2017, at Cotton Pointe Living Center in Matthews.
Born Oct. 21, 1954, in Wyatt, to the late William Thomas and Julie Mallie Carlyle Weems, he was employed for over 30 years at Brown Shoe Company in Sikeston, where he was a supervisor.
On Dec. 2, 1972, he married Mona Verneal Williams Weems, who preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1998.
Survivors include: his former wife, Monica Weems Mays of Sikeston; two sons, Michael Thomas Weems (Diane McWhirter) of Sikeston and Christopher Strader (Jessica) of Pevley; three daughters, Sonya Lynn Martin (Reggie) of Miner, Michelle Rene Warren (Steve) of Bernie and Brittany Wilson (Brandon) of Sikeston; two brothers, Jerry Weems of Malden and Gary Weems of Moorestown, Tenn.; one sister, Joanne Cartwright of Matthews; and 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior, Billy Thomas, Pleasant Jerome and Roger Weems.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Mike Cartwright, pastor of Canalou Assembly of God Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Dogwood Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be: John Weems, Michael Garrett, Michael Still, Robert Murphy, Paul Aters and Chris Strader.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Hasty and Brandon Wilson.
