Patrol officers will be out force during holiday
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - Wednesday and Sunday,Troop E officers will take part in a peak travel crash reduction enforcement program in an effort to promote safety and to reduce the number of traffic crashes in the Troop E area.
According to Capt. Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E of Poplar Bluff, this means Troop E will assign a trooper every 20 miles on Interstates 55 and 57, and on other selected secondary roads.
"The objective of the project is to place a trooper in close proximity of motorists who may need assistance and to enforce aggressively all traffic violations which may contribute to unsafe traveling conditions," Vitale said in a news release. "The Patrol is committed to continuing to reduce crashes and fatalities through our education and enforcement efforts."
