Jaycees collecting food items to help the Bulldog Pantry
SIKESTON --The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo is collecting nonperishable food items to present to the Bulldog Pantry for a "livestock" the shelves event. Children ages 3 to 13 who bring 10 or more nonperishable items to the Bulldog Pantry table in front of the ticket office will receive a voucher for $10 off his or her next Rodeo ticket purchase during the 2017 season. Those who bring items Saturday will receive $10 off that night's ticket purchase.
Items requested include canned goods, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, cereal, fruit cups, applesauce, toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergent, feminine products, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner. Food must not be expired.
"The Bulldog Pantry is an asset to our community," said Blake Wethington, chairman of the 2017 Rodeo, "We are always looking for new ways to support the organization, and we hope this effort inspires Junior Jaycees to get involved and learn more about our community's resources for those less fortunate than many of us."
The Bulldog Pantry is a local resource for disadvantaged children in Sikeston public schools. The organization relies heavily on donations to provide students with school supplies, clothing and food.
