One dead in house fire late Tuesday in Sikeston
SIKESTON -- The cause of a deadly house fire late Tuesday in Sikeston has been ruled as accidental.
About 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety's Fire Division responded to the 400 block of Marian Street in reference to a structure fire that had flames coming from the roof near the garage, according to Sgt. Jon Broom, public information officer for Sikeston DPS.
"The fire crew made entry and pulled a 43-year-old male from his bedroom. South Scott EMS and fire crews tried to revive him but were unable," Broom said.
The victim has been identified as Aaron Scott Tarrants.
The Scott County coroner, Missouri state fire marshal and Sikeston DPS detectives are investigated the fire scene. According to investigators, the fire appeared to have started in a storage closet near the garage. No foul play is expected, and the fire appears to have been accidental in nature, Broom said.
