Christ’s Love Commands, Part 1

When we have wrestled and successfully responded to Christ’s command that we are to have no rival loves in our heart to His, we are then told to “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Talk about hard! This command is so contrary to human nature. I dare say that most of us who have claimed for years that we are a disciple of Christ usually have not followed Him very far on this point. We can manage, if we try, to love our close circle of family and friends, even if they happen to annoy us occasionally. But to love our enemies is way more difficult than loving passing acquaintances and even complete strangers.
