Sikeston man faces felony rape charge

SIKESTON — A Sikeston man faces a felony charge for an alleged rape over the weekend in Sikeston.

Thomas Raymond Coakley, 40, is charged with felony first degree rape, according to online court records.

At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a report of the sexual assault-rape of two females in Sikeston, according to DPS reports. The case remains under investigation, according to Lt. Austin Henley with Sikeston DPS.

Coakley was arrested by Sikeston DPS and transported to the Scott County Jail, where bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety (and no contact with the victim).

He was scheduled to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Scott County Court. As of Tuesday, he remained in jail.
