Sikeston man dies in area’s first boating fatality of the year
CHARLESTON, Mo. — A Sikeston man died in a boating accident Tuesday in Mississippi County.
According to Missouri State Water Patrol, at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Patrol responded to a report of a person falling overboard in the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Robert DeLaney Lake. The accident occurred as a vessel operated by 52-year-old Michael C. Price of Sikeston struck underwater obstruction with the trolling motor, causing Price to fall overboard. Price was recovered by witnesses and transported to by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, where he was pronounced dad at 12:18 p.m. by Mississippi County coroner Terry Parker.
Price’s death marked Troop E’s first boating fatality for 2018, the Patrol said.
