Meeting planned for June 30 to reactivate NAACP in Sikeston

SIKESTON — A planning committee consisting of members from the Cape Girardeau branch of the NAACP will host a meeting for Sikeston residents interested in reactivating the Sikeston branch of the organization at 1 p.m. June 30 at the Sikeston Public Library.

Lloyd Williams, former president of the Cape Girardeau branch and publisher of the newspaper, Crossroads, will be in attendance to discuss his proposal from a regional NAACP, which would consist of local chapters and explain the process of re-establishing the Sikeston branch of the NAACP.

Sikeston residents who feel there is a need for the organization and have an interest in restoring the branch should attend.
