BENTON, Mo. — Barbara Kay Chidester, age 61, died Nov. 5, 2018, at her home in Benton.
She was born Oct. 28, 1957, in Portageville, daughter of the late Elmer and Vonie (Kirby) Atteberry.
On Sept. 21, 1972, at Portageville, she was married to Melvin Riley Chidester; he survives of the home in Benton.
Other survivors include: two sons, Rodney A. Chidester (Emily) of Benton and Brandon L. Chidester (Wendi) of Sikeston; five daughters, Kimberly K. Anderson (Timothy) of Ash Grove, Stephanie D. Uhrhan (Michael) of Chaffee, Chrystal L. Chidester (Regional) of Commerce, Alicia I. Chidester (Keith) of Cape Girardeau and Kathy S. Chidester (Stephen) of Benton; two brothers, Elmer Lewis Atteberry of Tucson, Ariz., and David Atteberry of Blytheville, Ark.; four sisters, Alice Carnell and Janet Chidester both of Hayti, Joyce Leonard of Ste. Genevieve and Judy Schmidt of Dexter; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cape First Sikeston, where visitation will again be held on Friday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery at Benton.
Pallbearers will be: Shannon Chidester, Douglas Beggs, Austin Uhrhan, Nicholas Ponder, Kodi Chidester, and Greg Carlisle.
Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
