Fire damages home

A home was damaged following a fire Thursday in Sikeston. At 3:07 p.m. officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety’s Fire Division responded to Lake Street and Moore Avenue in reference to a house fire, according to DPS reports. Upon their arrival, about 25 percent of the house was engulfed, and the fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes, said Capt. Austin Henley, fire division commander for Sikeston DPS. Crews were on scene for an hour, and the fire was not suspicious, he said. About 30 percent of the house received fire damage and 60 percent smoke damage, Henley estimated.
