Rev and Mrs. Eugene and Sandra Poole take a moment to stand by one of the Crepe Myrtles they had trimmed back and cleaned out the weeds and grass underneath them. -Scott Seal photo

Have you noticed Crepe Myrtles on Main Street looking a little nicer? Thanks to the efforts of Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Poole. for some time, Mrs. Sandra has noticed how the Crepe Myrtles have looked and wanted to do something about them but did not want to step on anyone’s toes.

They went to the City Hall to ask for permission and were granted permission to do so. They do the same thing to the Crepe Myrtles at their church and figured they could do the same thing for the ones on Main Street.

Their act of kindness was done last Tuesday, Feb. 26. and trimmed the bushes on both sides of the street, 25 in all. Even put a little fertilizer in the soil to help nourish the trees.

Jokingly, they were reluctant to have their picture made. Mrs. Poole said, “We don’t want people to know who did this if the trees die!”

Like every living thing, a little love goes a long way. A big Thank You to the Pooles’ for a job well done!
