Sikeston American Legion provided $132,000 in lottery funds to Missouri education in 2018

SIKESTON ó†Sikeston American Legion Post 114 was recognized by the Missouri Lottery for providing $132,000 for Missouri education in 2018.

As a result, Missouri Lottery on March 5 announced the Sikeston post as a member of its exclusive Pull-Tab Platinum Club, which is the second consecutive year the post has received the honor.

The Sikeston location became of member of the club by being only one of seven Missouri Lottery retailers statewide to sell $250,000 or more in Pull-Tab sales. During the past year, American Legion Post 114 produced Pull-Tabs sales of $397,064.

Missouri Lottery officials said they appreciate the Legionís dedication to helping them provide funding to public education. During the past year, Lottery sales at the Legion has generated more than $132,000 for public education programs in Missouri for programs such as the A+ Scholarship program, virtual schools, special education excess costs, foundation program and about 11 percent of provided funds for operating costs at Missouri community colleges and universities, among others.
