Sullenger retires

Monday, April 29, 2019

Delivering mail for residents in the New Madrid area since 1990, Carolyn Sullener delivered her last letter March 29, deciding to retire to spend more time with her grandchildren. She began her career on Oct. 8, 1990 as a rural carrier substitute (RCA) in New Madrid, later becoming a full-time rural carrier in March of 2009 in New Madrid. In 2012, the New Madrid carriers were moved to the Portageville Post office and during that time, Sullenger remained delivering in New Madrid. “What I will miss most about my career with the USPS is my customers and co-workers,” she said. With her in a retirement celebration held recently at the Post Office are, from left: Portageville Postmaster Darrell Killian, and right, Sandra Beasley.
