PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — Jimmie Nell Ward, 73, died June 20, 2019, at the New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid.
Born Dec. 22, 1945, in Elbridge, Ala., daughter of the late Verna Sims Long and Bill Long, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville and the JOY Sunday school class. She served on several committees within the church. She was a 1963 graduate of North Pemiscot High School- Ross. She retired as a cotton technician from University of Missouri Delta Center, where she worked from 1968-1997.
On June 8, 1963, in Hayward, she married Bobby Ward, who survives of the home in Portageville.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Shelia Ward of Hayward; one sister, Sue Myrick of Sikeston; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Long in 1955, Lecil Long in 1972 and Cecil Long in 1942.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
