POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Carl David Heuiser, 81, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Saturday, Sept., 14, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Carl was born on April 8, 1938, in Sikeston, to parents Arnold J. and Mattie (Crowell) Heuiser. Carl attended school in Morehouse and married Sherry Green his high school sweetheart, on March 2, 1956.

Carl had three children Timothy Heuiser of Poplar Bluff, Mark Heuiser (deceased) and Penny Heuiser of Los Angeles.

In 1964, Carl moved from Sikeston to Poplar Bluff, where he opened the marine store “The Boat Place,” which later became “American Trailer.” In 2005, Carl opened “Overhead Door of Butler County” and both companies are currently family owned businesses.

Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends and working on his beloved farm. In 2017, Carl was a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Senior Services Award for his many years of service on the East Butler County Sewer District Board of Directors.

Carl is survived by his wife, Sherry; son, Timothy, and wife, Teresa (Medley) Heuiser of Poplar Bluff; daughter, Penny Heuiser of Los Angeles; grandson, Ryan and wife, Abbey (Redford) Heuiser and grandson, Andrew and wife, Nikki (Rebstock) Heuiser; and six Heuiser great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Aislynn, Noah, Harper, Keller and Elliott.

In addition to his son Mark, Carl is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold B. Heuiser; and sister Wilma Martin.

The Heuiser family would like to extend a special thank you to all the family and friends who have supported the family during this difficult time and too the many who visited Carl during his illness. He continually expressed how blessed he was to have that time with family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at First Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Brandon Spain will officiate.
