SCOTT CITY, Mo. — Bennie Franklin Jackson, age 76, of Scott City, passed away on Oct. 19, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 18, 1942, in New Madrid, to the late Clifford and Pauline Tanner Jackson.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Luhr Bros. Contractors for 45 years and he was a member of 513 Operators Union.

On July 16, 1964, in New Madrid, he married Barbara Lawrence Jackson who preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 2019.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Tessa Jackson of Sikeston; one daughter, Christy Ramsey of Scott City; two sisters, Brenda Poppy of Counce, Tenn., and Barbara (Billy) Akin of Pocola, Okla.; five grandchildren, Micah Boyer, Chase White, Logan Potter and Blakely and Rhett Jackson; six great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Jackson; and one son, B.J. Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with the Rev. Mike Wondel, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.

Pallbearers will be: Eric DeHart, Mark Hanners, Joe Trankle, Chuck Cagle, Jay Luhr and Joey Higgerson.
