Biden, Trump dominate local ballots

President Donald Trump and Joe Biden were the big winners locally in the Presidential Primary held Tuesday.

Mississippi County

In Mississippi County, Trump was the dominant winner, collecting 657 of the 660 casts on the Republican ticket. Bill Weld also received a vote while two votes were uncommitted.

On the Democratic ticket, Biden collected 414 votes, clearly ahead of Bernie Sanders who finished with 123. Others receiving votes were: Amy Klobuchar 3, Tom Steyer 2, Tulsi Gabbard 7, Elizabeth Warren 5, Pete Buttigieg 2, Andrew Yang 1, Deval Patrick 1, Michael Bennet 1, Michael Bloomberg 4, Steve Burke 1 with seven uncommitted.

Jacob Hornberger had one vote for the Libertarian Party.

New Madrid County

On the Republican ticket in New Madrid County, the sitting President garnered over 98% of the vote with 864 ballots cast in his favor. Joe Walsh had six votes and Weld four while five were uncommitted.

Biden finished with over 67% of the Democratic votes with Sanders finishing with 223. Others receiving votes were: Gabbard 10, Cory Booker 2, Warren 6, Buttigieg 2, Velma Steinman 2, Roque De La Fuente 1, John Delaney 2, Bloomberg 4 and Bill Haas 1 with nine uncommitted.

Hornberger picked up two votes on the Libertarian ticket.

Scott County

According to unofficial results provided by Scott County Clerk Rita Milam’s office, 4,292, or 17.4% of Scott County’s registered voters, cast ballots in Tuesday’s election.

Trump also collected most of the votes in Scott County as well, finishing with 2,364. Bob Ely, Weld and Matthew John Matern each had two votes with Walsh picking up six votes and eight casting uncommitted ballots.

Biden grabbed almost 63% of the vote on the Democratic ticket with 1,188 votes. Sanders finished a distant second with 589 votes. Others receiving votes were: Klobuchar 10, Steyer 2, Gabbard 28, Booker 4, Warren 20, Buttigieg 4, Velma Steinman 2, Delaney 3, Patrick 1, Marianne Williamson 1, Bennet 1, Bloomberg 17, Burke 1 and Haas 1 with 20 uncommitted.
