Dexter bank branch temporarily closes after two employees test positive for COVID-19

Thursday, April 2, 2020

DEXTER – Bank of Advance officials reported Wednesday morning that two staff members at the branch in Dexter recently tested positive for COVID-19.

"In order to minimize the spread, and for the safety of our staff, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Dexter branch as of Thursday, April 2 to allow for thorough sterilization of the facility. We plan to reopen no later than Tuesday, April 7," according to a press release from bank officials.

Both employees experienced only mild symptoms and are now recovering at home, they said. According to the bank, neither experienced symptoms while in bank facilities and will remain at home under quarantine for the recommended time based on CDC guidelines.

"Due to the growing concerns with the coronavirus, our staff had previously begun working on alternating schedules to assist with social distancing efforts and limit exposure," bank officials said. "Employees returning to work on April 7 will have not been in contact with the two confirmed cases for fourteen days and will be considered clear of the virus.

"Our primary concern is protecting our staff, customers, and community. We sincerely regret this inconvenience and encourage customers to utilize our online banking options, our mobile app with remote deposit, and our ATMs. Drive-thru access at our main banking facility in Advance, Bell City branch, and Chaffee branch will remain open."

Additionally, many Dexter staff will continue to work remotely and will be available by calling the main office at 573-722-3517.
