POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Autopsies will be performed later today on a Poplar Bluff woman and her infant daughter, both of whom died Sunday of apparent gunshot wounds.

“I pronounced 31-year-old Angela Lemonds dead at the scene” at about 10 a.m. Sunday, according to Butler County Coroner Andy Moore. “I went to the emergency room for the child.”

Moore said he pronounced 6-month-old Brooklyn Lemonds dead at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Autopsies, Moore said, will be performed this afternoon by Dr. Russell Deidiker at Farmington.

The investigation into the mother and daughter’s deaths is continuing.

“We’re not looking for any suspects beyond the home, and we don’t feel there is any danger to the community,” said Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs.

Deputies with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a home in the 100 block of Township Line Road after a 911 call reporting a shooting was received by the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 9:29 a.m., Dobbs said.

Upon arrival, authorities found two people had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

“The investigation is ongoing through the Butler County Sheriff’s office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol DDCC with regard to the incident,” Dobbs said in a statement.
