UPDATED NUMBERS: Mississippi County has first positive case; Scott County up to 52 cases

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Mississippi County Health Department in Charleston confirmed via social media on Tuesday the county’s first case of COVID-19.

“Please be aware that we have started our contact tracing to identify those who may have been a close contact to the individual,” the health department said in a post on its official Facebook page Tuesday morning. “Close contact means that they were within 6 feet of the positive individual for at least 30 minutes. If you see a phone number from either Charleston or East Prairie Health Department, please answer the call. If you do not answer, we will leave a message with contact information to call us.”

According to the Scott County Health Department, as of Tuesday afternoon, there are 52 positive cases in Scott County with no new cases reported in the last day.

Of the 52 cases, 38 are still active while 13 have recovered. There has been one death in the county.

Of the positive cases, 36 are female and just 16 male. Twenty-six of the cases are over the age of 60 with seven between the ages of 40-49, six between the ages of 30-39 and seven between the ages of 20-29. Twenty-six of the cases African-American with 26 cases being caucasian.

The New Madrid County Health Department is still reporting nine positive cases. Of those nine cases, four are active and five have recovered.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Dunklin County Health Department has reported 18 cases with 12 having recovered. There have been two deaths in Dunklin County.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center currently has 18 positive cases according to the Missouri Department of Public Health.

In their last update on Friday, the Missouri Delta Medical Center reports there was one person in their COVID-19 Unit that was off a ventilator and recovering with three persons under investigation. There have been 54 negative tests.

As of Friday, MDMC testing centers had given 349 total tests with nine being positive, 309 negative and 31 still pending.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Tuesday afternoon, there were 134 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Tuesday with 12 new deaths. That brings the total number of cases in Missouri to 5,941 with 189 deaths.
