22 inmates, 3 employees at SECC test positive for COVID-19

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Twenty-two inmates and three employees have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Southeast Correctional Center located in Charleston.

According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, 22 offenders in one housing wing at Southeast Correctional Center have tested positive for COVID-19 and are in isolation. Three staff members have tested positive for the virus, according to the DOC’s update on Thursday.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in partnership with Department of Corrections tested 68 inmates and over 32 employees Wednesday due to the positive test results in a specific wing within the Southeast Correctional Center.

The Mississippi County Health Department received a report of an employee that tested positive 10 days ago and the first inmates to test positive was reported Tuesday.
