AURORA, Ill. — Doris Jean Jackson-Starks, 70, died May 19, 2020, in Aurora.

Born July 5, 1949, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of the late Harrison Jackson Sr. and Mary Jackson, she was the of the Christian belief and a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1967 from Charleston Senior High School in Charleston, Mo. She attended IBM Technology in Detroit, Mich., where she earned a degree in 1969. After pursuing higher education, she lived in Aurora for 30 years. She had worked at Agco for 10 years and Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston as a ward clerk for 14 years until her retirement. In 1999, she returned to Charleston, where she lived until 2017.

In 1992, she married Harry Starks.

Survivors include: one grandson whom she raised, Marquette Jackson; one stepdaughter, Renee (Corbin) Williams; two brothers, James Melvin Jackson of Charleston,, Ray Jackson of Kankakee; four sisters, Bettye Shaw of Dekalb, Ill., Harriett Jackson of Charleston, Maryann Clay of Aurora and Joann Moore of Oswego; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Anthony Jackson; and two brothers, Harrison Jr. and Jimmy Jackson.

A walk-through visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday when a private funeral service will begin at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with Steve Betts, pastor, officiating.

The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
