Six new positive cases, one death reported in Scott County Friday

The number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to increase locally as another area death has been reported as well.

The Scott County Health Department reported Friday afternoon that another Scott County resident died resulting from COVID-19, giving the County 10 deaths to date. No further information on the death was released.

The Scott County Health Department also reported an additional six new cases Friday, giving Scott County 104 positive cases with 24 of those active and 70 recoveries. Of the new cases, two were between the ages of 20-29, one was between the ages 60-69, another between the ages of 70-79 and two over the age of 80. Four of the six who tested positive were female.

Other local counties increased Friday as well. According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, an additional member of the Southeast Correctional Center prison staff in Charleston has tested positive for COVID-19. That makes 16 staff members and 43 inmates at the prison who have tested positive.

The entire SECC population, including inmates and staff, took part in sentinel testing this week. The testing was set to conclude Friday.

The Department of Health and Senior Services is reporting an additional positive case in both Mississippi County and New Madrid County Friday afternoon. Mississippi County now has 56 positive cases while New Madrid County has 20 positive cases.

DHSS is reporting two new cases in Stoddard County, giving them 78 while the Dunklin County Health Department is reporting four new positive cases Friday morning, giving Dunklin County 36 cases. Of those, 11 are active with 23 recovered and two deaths.

The DHSS is reporting Butler County and Cape Girardeau County each have three new cases, giving Butler County 32 and Cape Girardeau County 73.

Statewide the DHSS reports there was 132 new positive cases Friday along with 33 additional deaths. To date, 12,795 Missourians have tested positive for COVID-19 with 738 deaths related to the virus. There were four additional hospitalizations reported on Friday, giving the state 648 hospitalizations to date.
