Local college students honored for academics

Belmont University

Mikayla Smith of Puxico, Missouri, qualified for the Spring 2020 Dean's List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Approximately 53 percent of Belmont's 6,313 undergraduate students qualified for the Spring 2020 Dean's List. Belmont Provost Dr. Thomas Burns said, "This achievement for the spring semester indicates that these students have placed a high priority on their work at Belmont and have invested time and energy in their studies. It is our strong belief that consistent application in this manner will reap great benefits, which will equip them for a lifetime of learning and growing."

Loyola University Chicago

Caroline Heckemeyer was named to the Loyola University Chicago College of Arts and Sciences’ Dean’s List for the second semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

Culver-Stockton College

Culver-Stockton College recently recognized 114 students on its honor roll for academic achievement during the spring 2020 semester.

Gabriel Eckert of Sikeston, Mo., was named to the list.

Students on the dean's list have earned between a 3.2 and 3.49 grade point average and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours with no grade lower than a C.

University of Utah

Amelia Moore of Sikeston, Missouri, was named to the University of Utah's spring dean's list. Moore's major is listed as English BA. Moore was among more than 7,500 students named to the Spring 2020 Dean's List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Saint Louis University

Samantha Thurman, a 2017 graduate of Sikeston High School, has made the spring semester dean’s list at St. Louis University in St. Louis. She is the daughter of Chad and Sheila Thurman, granddaughter of Shirley Grigery and great-granddaughter of Dola Thurman, all of Sikeston.

Missouri Southern

The Deans List for the spring 2020 semester at Missouri Southern State University has been released.

The List recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or above on a 4.0 scale. The students qualified for the honor by earning the required GPA while enrolled in 12 or more credit hours.

Local students who made the Dean’s List include Emma L. Hayes of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Shania A. Hardin of Portageville, Mo.

Missouri Valley College

Dr. Diane Bartholomew, vice president of academic affairs for Missouri Valley College, has announced the Spring 2020 Dean's List. The requirements for the Dean's List are a 3.3 or higher grade point average; at least 12 graded hours for the semester and no "D," "F," or "Incomplete" grades for the semester. The following student from the area was named to the Dean's List: Luke Rhodes, junior, history from Bloomfield and Jaylin Mosby, senior, physical education from New Madrid.
