12th death related to coronavirus reported in Scott County

A 12th person has died related to COVID-19 in Scott County.

The Scott County Health Department reported the death late Thursday afternoon, along with reporting an additional four positive cases late Thursday and two on Friday. Scott County currently has 192 cases with 39 active and 141 recovered.

According to the Mississippi County Health Department, there has been an increase of six cases in the general population since Monday. The health department reports 112 cases with 65 being in the general population, with 19 of those cases active and 46 recovered.

The Missouri Department of Corrections reports 47 inmates and 20 staff members at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston have tested positive for the coronavirus with all but one inmate and three staff members having recovered.

The New Madrid County Health Department is reporting 47 positive cases with eight of those active and 39 having recovered. There has been one death in the county.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reports 149 cases with 23 of those active to go along with 117 recoveries and nine deaths.

The Pemiscot County Health Center is reporting 115 positive cases now confirmed in the county. There are four active cases with one hospitalized. Six people have died resulting from COVID-19 while 105 have recovered.

Eight additional cases have been reported by the Dunklin County Health Department, giving the county 122 cases with 29 active and 90 recovered with three deaths.

Cape Girardeau County continues to see big increases with 18 additional cases reported. According to the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center’s latest update, which was late Thursday afternoon, there are 312 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 42 probable. Of those, 184 are active with 167 out of isolation and three deaths.

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services had yet to update current COVID-19 numbers for the state.
