CHARLESTON, Mo. — Karen Ellis Brown, 81, a resident of Charleston, died July 18, 2020, at her home.

Born September 26, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to the late Joe E. and Loiselle Fisher Ellis Jr. she grew up in Charleston, was a member of the First Baptist Church, was a graduate of Charleston High School, was an accomplished ballet dancer along with being an active member of the Mississippi County Historical Society, the Molly French Garden Club and Chapter CV P.E.O. She was named the 2002 Charleston Woman of the Year by the Charleston Lions Club.

On Sept. 9, 1956, she married Dick W. Brown, who survives of the home. 

Other survivors include: two sons, Christopher G. (Robin) Brown and Dee Brown all of Charleston; one sister, Deidre Ellis Reed and one brother, Joe E.”Mike” (Loretta) Ellis all of Charleston.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Ellis Brown.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Nite officiating.
