Three deaths reported locally while many counties see fewer active cases

Three local deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday but many local counties are showing fewer active cases since Friday.

Two deaths were reported by the Mississippi County Health Department Tuesday afternoon, making three deaths in the county since the pandemic began in March. The health department reported 12 additional cases but the number of active cases remained at 43, the same as it was on Friday.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center an individual in their 90s died attributed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. The death is the 13th in the county. The health center reported 40 fewer active cases Tuesday with 203 currently in the county.

The Scott County Health Department reported 25 additional cases since Friday on Tuesday afternoon but also reported 37 recoveries. The number of active cases has been reduced to 137 and there have been 14 deaths related to the virus reported in the county.

The New Madrid County Health Department reported 12 new active cases since Friday but 31 recoveries, putting the number of active cases in the county at 34. There have been nine deaths related to COVID-19.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported four new cases Tuesday and eight cases over the weekend but the number of active cases dropped to 51. There have been 10 deaths related to the coronavirus.

Pemiscot County reported an increase of 10 active cases since Friday, with 57 currently active along with five hospitalizations. There have been nine deaths since March.
