SIKESTON — Arthur Severn “Vern” Renfro, 85,died Oct. 4, 2020, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Sikeston.
Born Jan. 1, 1935, in Sikeston, son of the late James David Renfro and Julia Edwards Renfro, he graduated high school and served six years in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on March 23, 1964. He worked for many years at the Anchor Toy Factory in Sikeston. He was also one of the original founders of the "Return to Sunset" Annual Reunion. He later moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he was the supervisor of the Parks Public Works Division. He moved to St. Louis, where he worked at the U.S. Post Office for years and later returned to Sikeston. He was of the Christian belief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Everett Nixon, Oblenis Gipson, and Micheal Gipson; and his sister, Floy Spence.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tracy Brown Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Arcanda Dwayne Booker of Sikeston; three sisters, Everlean Brown of Sikeston, Syletta Williams and Bessie Renfro of Chicago, Illinois.
Visitation is from noon until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home in Sikeston with the Rev. L.L. Williams officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset of Memories.
