Letter: Grant enables MBRC to fund telehealth services, Stork Nest Pantry

Friday, November 27, 2020

Dear Editors:

In these times of increasingly demanding and changing healthcare needs, it is more important than ever that medical service providers are equipped to provide the necessary care to keep our communities healthy. That is why I am pleased to report that Missouri healthcare provider Missouri Care has awarded Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium, Inc. (MBRC) a $14,000 grant to develop a telehealth room and to purchase items for the Stork Nest Pantry.

The first purpose of the grant is to develop a telehealth room, which will support virtual meetings between healthcare providers and clients. This will enable MBRC to meet the growing needs of diverse and scattered populations throughout the Missouri Bootheel and to be able to conduct virtual meetings, health education programs and case management.

Meanwhile, the Stork’s Nest Pantry provides basic needs to area families enrolled in the program. Grant money will go provide certain infant care, as well as household and safety items for families in need. Many families struggle to make ends meet, and the Stork’s Nest Pantry ensures that they have the equipment necessary to care for newborns.

I am proud to see Missouri Care Inc., an Anthem company, doing its part to provide healthcare to our Bootheel communities. I am grateful for the generosity of MissouriCare, and I encourage other providers to follow their lead.
