SIKESTON — Spencer Clay and Brittany Bryars were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for December.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names two seniors each month for the honor during the 2020-2021 school year.

Clay is the son of Shannon and Rob Clay. His activities include Model UN, National Honors Society and Boy Scouts, and he’s active at the Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano, hanging out with friends, spending time in nature, playing basketball and researching topics that interest him.

Bryars, who is the daughter of Gail Groves and Donald Bryars, is one of the drum majors in the marching band, and she’s competed in district band competitions with hopes to make it to state. She is an active member in the Red Peppers, Future Business Leaders of America, Link Crew, Model UN and National Honors Society. She is the senior editor of the yearbook. Her hobbies include performing in Sikeston Little Theatre musicals. She’s volunteered for vacation Bible school at First Baptist Church in Sikeston, was an assistant coach for Upwards Basketball and participated at several food banks. She’s been involved in church mission trips and the A+ tutoring program. She also plays the flute and is learning to play the bass clarinet. In her spare time, she enjoys painting and dancing.
