Number of active COVID-19 cases in local counties continues to decline

The number of active COVID-19 cases locally continues to decline.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Scott County Health Department reported 20 new cases and 61 recoveries. Currently, the number of active cases is at 668, the lowest number since Nov. 17. There have been 2,905 recoveries and 71 deaths.

Two additional deaths were reported in New Madrid County Wednesday making 40 deaths since the pandemic began in March. There are 40 active cases in the county with 1,907 out of quarantine.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported 16 new cases Wednesday, giving the county 109 active cases with 2,650 recoveries. There has been 60 deaths reported since March.

Cape Girardeau County saw an increase of 40 active cases Wednesday, giving the county 1,346. Nearly 7,000 cases have been resolved in the county while 128 deaths have been reported.

Pemiscot County has 39 active cases with 11 hospitalizations while 32 residents have died related to the virus and 1,471 have been released from isolation.

In Dunklin County, there are 75 active cases while 18 deaths have been reported and 2,828 have recovered.
