Vaccination sites to be established across region

Thursday, January 21, 2021

With a large number of Missourians signing up for the COVID-19 vaccine, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson announced Wednesday the Missouri National Guard will begin assisting in establishing COVID-19 vaccination sites across the state.

A mass vaccination team will be assigned to each of Missouri’s nine Highway Patrol regions.

The mass vaccination site is scheduled to begin this week in the Southeastern region. The sites have the capability to provide up to 2,500 doses per day, per team. The dates and locations will be released once they are finalized.

Missouri is currently vaccinating Phase 1A and Phase 1B: Tier 1. However, when those can be vaccinated depends on local vaccine availability.

The Scott County Health Department reports they are experiencing a large volume of calls in regards to registering for and scheduling a COVID-19 vaccine.

Once that information is received, the data is taken and sorted through to be sure that the correct priority groups will be vaccinated.

“We have not yet received word as to when we will receive a supply of the vaccine,” said a social media statement from the health department. “We are at the mercy of the state in how much vaccine we receive and when we receive it.”

The statement said the health department is aware of other facilities and hospitals that are administering the COVID vaccine.

“Please feel free to try to sign up to receive the vaccine through these other facilities. If you are on our list and then receive the vaccine elsewhere, please call our office at (573) 471-4044 to remove your name from our list,” the health department said.
