Dear Editors:

The City of Parma has been in recovery mode for the past two years. Our debt was overwhelming and our funds were depleted. The equipment of the City was in disrepair or totally beyond repair. All four of our vehicles were needing repairs or needed to be replaced (two utility trucks and two police vehicles). One of the police vehicles has been repaired and is back in service. The Water and Street Department truck (only used in town for meter reading and repairs of water lines) is beyond repair.

Although some would say it is not politically correct, New Madrid County Highway Department have answered our prayers with the donation of a 2008 Chevrolet Pickup.

The citizens of Param, Board of Alderman and Mayor say thank you, Donnie Brown, and all the employees of the New Madrid County Highway Department. Also we appreciate the hard work of our County Commissioners for their support in helping to resolve problems in all our communities in New Madrid County.

‘Grateful and thankful,

Rufus Williamson Jr., mayor of Parma; Allen Hampton, alderman; Carolyn Powers, alderwoman; Lydia Cackowski, alderwoman; Lora Otto, city clerk; Jane Daniels, city treasurer; Kim Hampton, administrative assistant; Thomas Eakens, city employee; and Leroy Waters, city employee.
